Trusting God in the Hallway

Finding Faith When Life Feels Uncertain

Trusting God in the hallway is not easy, but it is necessary. There are moments in life when everything feels like it’s on pause, when doors have closed, but new ones haven’t opened yet. This in-between space is what many call “the hallway.” It’s uncomfortable, uncertain, and often filled with doubt. Yet, it is in this very place that faith is refined the most.

We are reminded in Scripture that we will overcome because all things work together for our good. Even when life feels overwhelming, we can take comfort in knowing that Jesus Christ Himself experienced trials and suffering. He understands our pain, our questions, and our moments of desperation.

Trusting God in the Hallway

God Sees You in Your Struggle

In our lowest moments, Scripture often becomes our anchor. The book of James offers a powerful yet challenging perspective:

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” — James 1:2–3

At first glance, this may not feel comforting. How can we find joy in pain? But this scripture teaches us something deeper: God is not distant from our struggles. He is present, aware, and actively working within them.

Even when we ache, He sees us. Even when we feel overwhelmed, He cares.

The Battle of the Mind

One of the greatest challenges in difficult seasons is managing our thoughts. When negative voices grow louder, it becomes harder to rise above our circumstances. The temptation to give up can feel overwhelming.

But as children of God, we are not without tools.

We have the Word — truth that we can lean on, declare, and use to strengthen ourselves. In moments of weakness, we must choose to:

  • Speak life instead of defeat
  • Focus on God’s promises instead of our problems
  • Replace fear with faith

Interestingly, if there is anything we should “undermine,” it’s not ourselves — it’s the problems, the negativity, and the lies that try to consume us.

Shifting Perspective Through Faith

When we adopt God’s perspective, something powerful happens: our problems begin to shrink.

Faith doesn’t always remove the situation immediately, but it transforms how we see it. It builds resilience, clarity, and strength to keep moving forward.

Romans 5:3–5 reminds us:

“We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint…”

This is the journey of faith:

  • Trials → Perseverance
  • Perseverance → Character
  • Character → Hope

And hope never fails.

Worship in the Waiting

Sometimes, the most powerful response in the hallway is worship.

Music, especially gospel worship, can shift your focus from pain to presence. Songs like “Holy Spirit” by Kari Jobe remind us of God’s nearness and unfailing love.

Worship allows us to:

  • Release emotional burdens
  • Reconnect with God
  • Realign our perspective

It reminds us that God is not just watching from afar — He is right there with us, carrying us through every moment.

Your Hallway Is Not Your Final Destination

What feels like a delay may actually be preparation.

The hallway is not a setback — it’s a setup for something greater.

Every challenge, every tear, and every moment of waiting is shaping you for what’s ahead. God is building something in you that will sustain what He is about to bring to you.

So hold on.

Your praise should not depend on your circumstances but on the truth that you are complete in Him.
